5 Simple Steps to Organize Your Crafting Supplies

1. Stamp and Die Storage: Make it Visible and Accessible

Stamps and dies are the lifeblood of so many of your craft projects, but if they’re buried in drawers, they can feel impossible to use. Start by categorizing your stamps by themes or sentiments. The clear cases from Stampin’ Up! make it easy to organize and see the images and sentiments at a glance.

Bonus tip! If you’d like, label each case (e.g. “Holiday Greetings” or “Nature”) for quick access. Rubber bands are an easy hack to keep coordinating dies and stamp sets together—no more mismatched sets! And I always have the dies facing out in behind so I can see them easily and don’t have to pull it out of the rubber band!

I put a little dot on mine to indicate Seasonal (red), other (blue). It’s also an indicator to me as a demonstrator of a retired status.

2. Patterned Paper: Wrangle Those Pretty Sheets!

Ah, patterned paper—your secret weapon for adding pizazz to cards, 3D items and scrapbook pages. To keep it pristine and to avoid bending the edges, file your Designer Series Paper (DSP) in clear upright folders by collection, colour, or pattern style. (Mine are by fancy gilded ones, then by colour.)

Label each folder like a boss so you can reach for whichever one you want quickly.

For scraps, dedicate a smaller clear cello bag within each package. This method ensures no piece, no matter how small, goes unused! If you don’t have cello bags, keep the scraps with the package so you have fully coordinated pieces at all times.

With ready-to-use bases, you get to focus on the fun parts of crafting without worrying about cutting or scoring your paper.

3. Cardstock Leftovers: File & Smile!

Leftover cardstock is a treasure, make sure you don’t toss it in the trash! I like to file scraps by colour in hanging folders like the setup pictured below. I’ve used this set up for years and just clean it out whenever there is a colour change.Whether you’re searching for a piece of Basic White or a bold pop of Real Red, this system lets you find what you need in seconds.

Keep a small tray or box on your workspace for “in-progress” scraps you can file later.

4. Adhesives: Corral that Chaos!

Adhesives are the unsung heroes of crafting, but they can quickly take over your space. Dedicate a small, cute container (like the one I have from many moons ago) for them. I pack in my SEAL and SEAL+, Tear & Tape, Stampin’ Dimensionals and foam adhesives.

Keep this caddy within arm’s reach to streamline your projects. It’s functional, and hey, who doesn’t love a bit of decor that’s also useful?

My liquid glue is stored upright in a 3D laser printed holder and the mini glue dots are like a little wreath!

5. Inks & Markers: My Splurge on Storage

One word! Systemize.

Your inks, markers, and blending brushes deserve their own beautiful display (if you have the room), and Stampin’ Up!’s Stampin’ Storage units are the way to go.

For all your markers, it’s best if they can be stored horizontal rather than in containers to help keep them moist and ready to use.

I did splurge and bought them one by one each month, then pulled them all out when I set up my new room (see below). They allow you to stack your ink pads by Stampin’ Up! colour family or by colours and align your markers and ink refills with the stamp pads. There’s a cool Blending Brush storage unit to display your blending brushes like a rainbow or pull in some containers like the one I have for my smaller brushes.

My Stampin’ Blends unit if from Spectrum Noir and I had started on this storage prior to the units from SU! being available. I love how it has a graduated presentation.

This investment is both aesthetic and functional—making your – and my – tools easier to grab and use!
