Little Ladybug Mini Curvy Keepsake Treatholder
These little sweeties were a hit as a welcome gift for all attendees at my Open House last weekend. This is about the quickest treat you can make I think. Just one quick crop through the die cutting machine to get my mini curvy keepsake box! Don’t you love that it only uses a half a sheet of cardstock?
Now you may think OMG! she cut out all those bugs?
No, I used my new toy, my Brother Scan’n Cut. I first stamped all my bugs randomly in Memento ink on a piece of 12×12 Whisper White. Then I scanned it in and it did all the work cutting them out with a perfect white border all the way around! 30 of them in 6 minutes!! What’s not to love about that?
I chose to only colour the ladies’ wings using my Real Red Stampin’ Blends combo rather than the bodies and faces (but see below for all the steps for my next gift!).
Then I went a bit punch-happy 😬 and layered three circles together (1 1/2″, 2″ and 2 1/4″ punches) in a red-black-white combo. I love how punches make matting and layering a cinch!
Lastly I punched a 1/8″ hole in the top of the tag to tie it onto the treat box with Whisper White solid baker’s twine. The greeting is in Real Red also punched out, this time with the 1-3/8″ scalloped circle.
Now let me give you the how to’s for this gift I made for the first 10 Open House attendees.
Little Ladybug Fridge Magnets
How cute – and practical- are our bugs as a fridge magnet?
Let’s take a closer peek.
This time I chose Poppy Parade for the bugs and did a little more colouring with my Stampin’ Blends combos. Let’s start with the supplies and then are all the measurements and how-to’s.Ladybug Stamped Fridge Magnets
Cuttin’ It Up!
- Poppy Parade or Basic Black cardstock – 2″ x 3 1/2″
- Shimmery White – scraps to stamp the ladybug on
- Regular Whisper White – scraps for the greeting
Let’s Make It!
1.Glue cardstock rectangle to magnet using liquid glue. TIP: my magnets came from Staples, already pre-cut into the size I needed. (You could also buy a sheet of magnet and cut to size with scissors.)
2.Stamp ladybug in Memento ink onto Thick Whisper White.
3. Colour with Stampin’ Blends: Poppy Parade for the wings, Black for the back of the body, Smoky Slate along the outside of the belly and Ivory with a tinge of Flirty Flamingo for the face and cheeks. TIP: To get the blended look of the Smoky Slate, try this technique I shared in a video (pssst. start at about 8 minutes for the Stampin’ Blends colouring 😉)
4.Cut out with your Paper Snips leaving a border all the way around. Or use your Brother Scan’n Cut or – coming soon with Product Coordination! The Ladybug dies will be available to make a perfect cut!
5.Stamp words onto Shimmery White and punch out. Glue onto magnet. Attach ladybug with Stampin’ dimensionals.
6. Last add Shimmery Crystal Effects to wings – or spots – and set aside to dry.
