Today I want to take an already sweet Christmas card and show you how BLENDS make a cute card even cuter! Rudolph has a special place in most of our hearts and today he’s getting a quick and easy bit of shading and dimension with Stampin’ Up!’s NEW alcohol inks.
Haven’t seen these yet? That may be because they’re not available until November 1st! But today I want to give you a sneak peek with my card and video. First let’s take a look at my card which is in my Easy Peasy Christmas Cardmaking Class at my friend Sue’s next week.
So, cute right? Snippets of red, white and brown for a festive greeting that take about 5 minutes to put together. Perfect for batch card making at this time of year. Before you get started on those though, take a gander at this version…
Now be honest, which do you like better? If it’s number one, don’t worry I’m not offended. But I’m guessing the colour blended one might be the winner? I do think the BLENDS take Rudolph to an “I’m the cutest animated reindeer in the world” status! I want to give you a close-up of how seamlessly the colours blend into each other.
Almost professional, isn’t it? And you know what? I’m a BEGINNER alcohol maker user! That’s how easy these markers are to use!
You know, I never did get on the Copic wagon. Too many colours, too expensive, and I just didn’t have that much time to devote to colouring (sorry Copic).
Though you’ve probably figured out by now…I DO LOVE to colour. Don’t get me wrong – Copic’s are fabulous for lots of detail and colour blending and I’ve played with my friend, Leslie’s a few times – and ALMOST caught the bug! But it came down to three main things for me:
- They didn’t match Stampin’ Up!’s colour families,
- The dollar investment to accumulate a good colour selection was just too great, and
- I just don’t have that much time to learn the colour blending techniques with over 250 markers!
Now Stampin’ Up! has solved all my issues at one go. SU! exclusive colours in just 12 colours. Certainly enough to create a rainbow of options. But I want to get back to your KISS card, so keep your eyes on my blog. I’ve got a whole post coming right up to introduce you to the BLENDS.
I’ve got the recipe to recreate this card below like I always do for my Keep It Simple Sunday series. But before I get there, take a peek at my short video showing you how BLENDS make a cute card even cuter.
- Real Red 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”
- Chocolate Chip 4” x 5 1/4”
- Whisper White 1” x 4”
- Crumb Cake scrap at least 2 1/2” x 2”
- Stampin’ BLENDS: Crumb Cake, Light and Dark, Cherry Cobbler Dark, Calypso Coral, Light, Bronze, Colour Lifter
Since it’s not Nov 1st yet, there are no links to the BLENDS. However I’ll update them on the 1st. In the meantime here is everything else to create this sweet card.
You Can Make It Too
Let’s take a final peek at how beautifully blended these colours are.
If you’ve also been sitting on the Copic fence like me, BLENDS could be your answer. Professional looking results for a fraction of the cost! Easy and quick! Perfect coordination with Stampin’ Up! exclusive colours. In my next post I’ll help you through colour selection so you can see how BLENDS make a cute card even cuter for yourself!
