It’s all about card crafting with product medleys in today’s Behind the Paper interview. I hope the fabulous Flowering Cactus medley from Stampin’ Up! will put you in a vacation frame of mind during these last weeks of winter “up north”!
My young friend Emily is showing off this wonderful medley today. Let’s see some of the ways she’s made cute and quick cards with everything included in the medley.
Fun! Bright! Not to mention, oh so pretty! n Aren’t those little felt flowers adorable?
Emily’s created these marvelous designs only using items in the medley (plus cardstock, ink and adhesive). Let’s get to know her – and her stamping style – a little bit more.
An Interview with a Paper Crafter
How long have you been crafting?
I have always enjoyed paper crafting of some sort, but I’ve gotten more into it in the last 4-5 years.
What “hooked” you about making your own handcrafted cards and items?
I love being creative. I also love being able to spread some joy to others with a thoughtful, one of a kind card.
Are there certain techniques you use more often in your handmade items?
I tend to go for more simple designs or techniques. Some of the stamps and paper are so beautiful, I like to keep things simple and clean and let them shine.
What are your favourite tools to craft with?
The paper trimmer is a must for me. I can’t cut a straight line without it!
How much time do you spend crafting?
I usually craft a couple hours every few weeks – probably more so now since the pandemic! The best time for me to craft is on weekend mornings with a cup of tea.
What advice would you give to someone just starting to paper craft?
Start simple! You can make some beautiful projects with just a few basic tools and techniques.
Great advice Emily! We can all get easily get overwhelmed with all the intricate, detailed and heavily embellished designs easily available on the internet. However, when we start with simple, we’ll always end up with amazing!
Here’s a closer peek at this medley.
