Make Last Minute Gift Tags by Embossing Patterned Paper

How about I show you how to make last minute gift tags by embossing patterned paper to dress up your presents?  I don’t know about you but the tags are something I seem to forget about until the last minute!.

Is this you?  You’ve:

  • spent hours deciding on the perfect gift for everyone on your list
  • wrapped it in special, saved-for-years, aged-just-right paper
  • decorated it with pretty curling ribbon, berries and bows

And now, the final crowning touch remains.  A fabulous coordinating gift tag.  How about these ones dressed up with the Sincerely Santa stamp (retiring now!) and the Layered Leaves dynamic embossing folder?

I LOVE Easy & QUICK Last Minute Gift Tags by Embossing Patterned Paper

Isn’t it neat how you can achieve three different looks with one set of designer series paper?  This one is Frosted Florals and you can see 3 different greens to coordinate with all your gifts. It’s been a favourite of mine this holiday season.

What gives it extra OOMPH! here is I’ve dry embossed my patterned paper with the Layered Leaves embossing folder. The added texture is unexpected, and with this folder, elegant.  Have you noticed it before?

It’s truly an all-season folder.  Great for spring, summer and fall and even into the winter and Christmas.  It looks divine with this paper, pulling together the leaf images beautifully.

Two tags are made with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch.  The remaining one is just a rectangle cut with my paper snips to look like a tag.  If you’ve not done this before, here’s how to get perfectly matched edges:

Cut off one diagonal edge of your rectangle tag.

Turn your tag UPSIDE DOWN and align the cut triangle on the opposite corner and but.

Result? Two perfectly similar diagonal edges!

Cuttin’ It Up! (for a scalloped tag topper version)

  • Whisper White – 2” x 4”, scraps
  • Designer series paper – 2” x 4”
  • coordinating cardstock – Mint Macaron, Shaded Spruce and Mossy Meadow scraps
  • glimmer paper – sparkle, silver and copper scraps
  • ribbon or trim – about 6-7” per tag

Let’s Make It

Quick & Easy Last Minute Gift Tags by Embossing Patterned Paper
  1. Run designer series paper through Layered Leaves embossing folder.  TIP: you can get 3 individual pieces in the folder at one time.  TIP: If you are using all one colour of paper, use a full sheet 4” x 6” then cut it down after embossing.
  2. Glue designer series paper to 2” x 4” piece of Whisper White.
  3. Stamp greeting on Whisper White cardstock scrap and punch out with Everyday Label punch. TIP: the words exactly fit inside this punch so I used the dots under the 25th to line up between the edges.
  4. Punch one 2” circle from coordinating cardstock and one leaf from your preferred colour of glimmer paper.
  5. Glue label to front of circle then to leaf and let dry.  Attach dimensionals and place on front of tag.  TIP: Place dimensional right over stem of leaf punch to hold it securely in place.
  6. Fold ribbon in half, insert folded end through hole, open the folded part and insert cut ends through.  Pull to secure.  TIP: Alternately, tie ribbon through hole and knot.

Seasonal Wreath Christmas Card Idea

I know – I said I was done with festive cards for this year, but you’d be missing out if I didn’t share this seasonal wreath Christmas card idea.  It was designed by one of my Kreative Kanuck friends, Paula for a swap at our last stamping party.

And seeing as it’s Front & Centre Friday just a few days before Christmas, I thought is was the perfect time to showcase it!

Isn’t it beautiful?

What’s not to love about Paula’s design?

  • a pretty watercolored wash background
  • the wash of Frost White shimmer paint over the fussy cut and embossed wreath (shem must have known I was going to feature embossing folders this week!)
  • super sparkly red glimmer paper greeting with a Real Red shadow
  • the perfectly placed red rhinestone berries on the wreath

Let’s take a little bit closer peek.

I LOVE this Seasonal Wreath Card Idea Using Frost White Shimmer Paint

The Seasonal Wreath embossing folder is a bit of a sleeper in the Annual Catalogue I think. Tucked away on page 223, it’s simply beautiful.

I used it a few weeks ago for this ultra quick and easy festive card.

And did you notice Paula also embossed her envelope?

Embossed & Painted Seasonal Wreath Card Idea

Paula’s celebrated 8 years as part of my Kreative Kanucks family this fall and always has lovely ideas to share.  Here’s another one of her designs for our challenge at our last get together.

Again, what a pretty and fun way to share your love of stamping and paper crafting during the holiday season.  (And she won the challenge by the way!)

What I absolutely love about being part of the Stampin’ Up! family.

  • Developing friendships like the one I share with Paula and the rest of the Kanucks.

  • Having friends who “get it”, who really understand this passion for creating beautiful handmade things.
