A simple & versatile card to use up little scraps of DSP!

I think one of my favourite Stampin’ Up! colours is Mango Melody. It’s rich and can fit into the yellow or orange family of colour so it’s versatile too!

Here I’ve paired it with Pool Party for a bit of zip!

How did I pick those two colours? I used the colour combinations in the new Texture Chic DSP which SU! gives us on the back of every package. Evening Evergreen, Mango Melody, Petal Pink, Pool Party, Soft Succulent, Soft Suede.

Why Do You Want White Space?

It draws the eye for one thing. Plus it adds a calming effect and allows us to “pause” a bit when we’re looking at the card. Sometimes if a card is just too busy – too many patterns, too many colours, too many embellishments – you can create a teensy bit of tenseness.

So get our your papers and your stamps and think about that! As well as these 5 little tricks I use for making cards quickly!

Match your embellishment to your specialty DSP for a cohesive look

Jo’s Tips for Quick Card Making

  1. Think simple, simple, simple! You don’t have to fill the entire page with images or patterned paper. A simple design can go a long way, especially when you have paper this busy – but gorgeous!
  2. Use colours SU! has already matched for you. Don’t waste time trying to pick colours. Let your DSP talk to you! It takes away all the guesswork! And if you don’t own the DSP, look the colours up in the catalogue or online!
  3. Find scraps of paper you already have cut. I had several of these little pieces of the Texture Chic already cut and left over from another project. They were about 3/4″ x 4 so were perfect for this project.
  4. Pull out your punches whenever you can. Punches really are the BEST way to cut shapes quickly! It’s true they do take up more room, and a heavy, and for this flagged banner, you could use your Paper Snips, but they do the job in a fraction of the time! You could also make fun cards with paper punches like this one!
  5. Think photopolymer stamps! With see-through stamps, you don’t need to pull out your Stamparatus stamp positioner. You can see right through the block, right onto your paper for perfect placement.

What Scraps Do You Have for a Quick and Amazing Card?

Any patterned paper would be fantastic on the layout. Pick your favourite colours from a set like this. Or go bold with different Brights or Regals in the popular 6×6 paper.

Don’t forget to add some style to the envelope too. Pick one of the designs you used on the card and glue it to the back of the envelope flap.
