Today I want to show you how to create texture with heat embossing and a rubber stamp that gives exquisite results! It’s a great little technique to add to your paper crafting toolkit.

And what a great way to take a pretty simple card and add some WOW!

I was recently away from home visiting my family in Thunder Bay for an extended period of time. Due to the unexpected nature of my visit, I hadn’t brought any of my paper crafting supplies with me.

While it was great that my mom has some basic supplies I could use, I was looking for some current items to be able to create for you. So I reached out to a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator in Thunder Bay who generously shared some items with me. This is one of the best parts of being affiliated with Stampin’ Up! It’s such a wonderful, giving community. So a big thank you Helen Piaskowski for helping me out!

This is one of the designs I created with her bundle, Grassy Grove.

Simple stamped and heat embossed card

With limited supplies, you have to become a little more creative! So no die cutting for this one. And only a few steps!

I love the simplicity of this card with just a couple added extras.

  • A stamped scene in Mossy Meadow.
  • The elegant copper on the beautiful greeting.
  • An added flagged end for interest.
  • And a tiny bit of Wink of Stella outlines the top of the stamped image to add emphasis without overdoing it.

Beautiful sentiments stand out in a copper script

Thinking of you and sympathy cards I think should be understated. So even though I used heat embossing which normally seems a bit “glamorous”, the copper colour is muted.

And while I could have left the card without the strip along the left hand side, I wanted something to add a little more interest.

Sooooo, not having any copper paper, I made my own!

Create Texture with Heat Embossing and a Rubber Stamp

I used one of the stamps in the set and heat embossed the strip of Mossy Meadow. It gave me just the right amount of texture and copper colour for the final touch on my card.

Add texture with a stamp from the same set for a cool look

Such a simple little trick but adds so much to the overall design.

Give It a Try!

Now it’s your turn to give this card a try. To see all the supplies I used for today’s card, a simple click here allows you to pin, print or order.

And I don’t want to leave you without showing you the inside of the card. My strip of copper embossed Mossy Meadow was just a little bit long. So I cut it off and thought it would add a nice touch to the inside!

Take the piece you cut off and add it as an extra special touch inside the card

I hope you’ll create texture with heat embossing and a rubber stamp and add this technique into your own stamping toolkit!
