Want to see a super adorably darling cute handmade card for a friend?
OK, I know that’s quite a few cheesey adjectives, but you’ll have to agree these free Darling Donkeys stamps from Stampin’ Up! are sooooo sweet!
What friend – gal or guy – wouldn’t love to open this in the mail? And yes, I tested the guy thing on my hubby – he agrees, it IS cute…and as long as we don’t put a lot of girlie colours on it, he approves it for a guy card…just!!
It’s quick and easy to put together using freebies in the 2021 Sale-a-Bration brochure. All the items I used are listed here and they total up to just enough to get you both the free Darling Donkeys AND the Oh So Ombre Designer Series Paper PLUS one other free $60 item! Bonus!
Just click the Add All to Cart button at the bottom and it’ll be on its way to you lickety split!Supplies
Free Sale-a-Bration Items are THE Best!
I pulled out the Darling Donkeys stamps for the first time for this little gem! Take a peek at the designs and especially the words. Ideal for all kinds of occasions!
I shared earlier this week how I select stamp sets. And even though this one was FREE, I still used the same process to decide if I HAD to have it. You can see how to make your choices easier too by clicking here.
What Do I Like About These Stamps?
- Versatility: This is always my number one choice – great for birthdays, friendship cards, thinking of you and just general feel super great designs
- More than one technique: There are so many ways I can add colour – or leave them black and white too. Coloured pencils, markers, watercolour or Stampin’ Blends (like I used here).
- It will fit with my other cute stamps: Remember the Ladybugs from last year? Or the goats? And the new Kangaroo and Company…these guys are all in the same vein so I can mix and match them for more ideas.
- I LOVE it!
Let’s take a closer look at this fun design so you can decide – like I did – if these stamps deserve a spot in your craft room!
Cute Handmade Card for a Friend
I paired Bermuda Bay and Pretty Peacock circles together to provide a base against the patterned paper. Then I coloured him with some neutral Stampin’ Blends. You can see Smoky Slate Combo and a hint of Gray Granite on his nose and hooves. The little bit of pink is Rococo Rose.
I thought it needed a bit of twine to bring out the white circles in the paper. So I wrapped some White Baker’s Twine – from the Snail Mail combo pack – around my fingers and glued it in place on the card first.
Isn’t that a great saying? I stamped it with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto a scrap of Whisper White and punched the end with the Banners Pick a Punch.
Then I put my greeting on top of the twine with dimensionals and added my donkey last.
Don’t Forget the Inside
You may have wondered about the Rococo Rose on his ears? That’s the colour on the back of the DSP. So I wanted to pull it in too.
One little strip of the Bermuda Bay along the side and a tiny greeting complete this adorable card.
