Everyone loves a cute happy birthday card right? Critters, presents, fun dies, colouring and a bit of shiny bling! This card has it all!
I guarantee you’ll put a smile on someone’s mug with this cutie!
I’m not sure what’s the best part of this card.
What do you think?
The colour combo? Smoky Slate, Misty Moonlight and Purple Posy paired together wonderfully.
Or perhaps the loads of presents? This is one stamp, stacked and stamped three times!
I know! The cutie patootie kangaroo!
Read on to see how you could make one too.
Cute Happy Birthday Card
What are some of the features that make this card such fun?
An Adorably Sweet Kangaroo Babe
This little darling comes from the Kangaroo and Company stamps from Stampin’ Up! She’s coloured with my Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers to achieve the shadows and a more “realistic” look.
Presents Piled Upon Presents!
It’s just like Christmas morning with all these party presents piled on top of one another. By turning the stamp slightly, you can also make it look like they’re just about to topple over!
If you’re really really careful, you can stamp these without needing to mask the image.
I’ve also used my Stampin’ Blends to colour the presents, and added a bit of bling with my Basic Rhinestones on each of the bows.
Layered Up Greeting – and Card
My Stitched Rectangles came in handy to create both the card, and frame, and the greeting. One trick I used on the greeting?
I first ran the smallest Stitched Rectangle die through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine to cut out the words. Then I used the same die and matched up the stitching lines so I could cut a smaller rectangle the perfect size for the sentiment.
I did the same thing for the Purple Posy mat around the greeting too so it would fit exactly.
The Stitched Rectangle dies are a staple in my stamp room. In my opinion, they are a must-have in every stamper’s toolkit.
I’ve made so many different cards with these dies over the years. You can see another kangaroo fun fold design by clicking here.
And this pretty flower design uses them too.
The blue matting is Misty Moonlight. And it’s really difficult to tell in the photo, but I also ran it through the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder for a bit more interest. (HINT: You could probably skip this step and it would still look awesome!)
Now It’s Your Turn!
If you’ve got a friend who would love a sweet card, this one would be ideal. Maybe you have a set of stamps with awesome critters that would make an equally cute design? Give them a try and see how it turns out.
