Hey crafter, how would you like to see some cute paper crafts with chickens in my latest Behind the Paper: An Interview with a Paper Crafter!
This monthly feature is all about sharing what gives other crafters their inspiration! What stamps, paper, dies and inks our guest reaches for the most. And you get to see the fun designs they make with a bundle they absolutely love!
So please welcome my good friend and fellow stamper Mary. And her stamp bundles, Hey Chick and Hey Birthday Chick.

Isn’t that fun? Mary loves to create with lots of detail and fun elements. See the cool sponging she did for the background with the Basic Pattern Decorative masks and her sponge dauber? Perfect for the cornfield!
Wanna see the inside?

Isn’t she a little trickster? It’s a tri-fold card! We’ve got one more pic to see the whole card!

Mary likes to add in some unexpected bits…like the tiny bits of corn by the cupcake. Let’s get to know her a little bit more.
An Interview with a Paper Crafter
What “hooked” you about making your own handcrafted cards and items?
Many years ago, I took a card making class in a small local business, now called The Country Cupboard in Red Deer. It was way upstairs in a back room. The woman teaching showed us how to heat emboss using an iron. It was magic and I was hooked!
How much time do you spend crafting?
I don’t spend as much time as I used to, but I would say some days it could be two-three hours but many days I just think about crafting lol!

What – if anything – don’t you like about paper crafting?
I am not a very tidy or organized person, so I need an assistant to clean up after me!
What type of space do you craft in?
Well, if I could get into my craft room…🙄 (Currently my dining room table, which is perfect in Covid times because I am not entertaining!)

Which items do you most like to make?
I like to do a bit of all of them, but cards and treat holders make everyone smile. Or at least I do when I receive them!
What advice would you give to someone just starting to paper craft?
Talk to other paper crafters and go slow get your basic supplies. It will be hard though if you are keener because you want everything!
I’d say it looks like Mary is a keener? What you you think?
Here’s a closer peek at these bundles you can save 10% on – but only until June 30th.

If you’d like to see another totally different idea to make with the Hey Chick stamps, check out this sweet baby girl card.
Which One Will You Make?
So many of us have the Hey Chick stamp set as it was a free item a few Sale-a-bration’s ago. But now we can get dies to go along with them, we instantly get more options! The bundle will be gone as of June 30th so make sure you pick it up soon!

Product ListCan I Feature YOU?
Throughout this series, I’ll bring you both new and more *ahem* elderly craft pals. Lots of them I’ve known for years and years. Some I’ve only recently met through this website and on my Facebook group. And there are so many more I’ve yet to meet!

This was the last question I asked Mary.
What was your most recent favourite design you made? Why did you like it?
I enjoyed the tri-fold card or something that is folded a little differently. It just creates a little more interest.

We agree Mary! And this one is super cute!
I hope you enjoyed these Cute Paper Crafts with Chickens Behind the Paper feature with Mary – drop back again soon for my next featured artist!
Thank you Peggy, I’ve always had an organized crafter 🙂
I really think that Mary’s work is superb. I love the way her
cards all stand out. She is a great crafter.. It’s nice to see
someone else who is not terribly organized. I call my
craft room organized chaos.
If I crafted like that I would soon be back into tole
painting, but that wouldn’t be bad either.. lol
I will soon be moved and then I can do my crafts wherever
i choose to. Will be great. Thanks for sharing your work
Mary.
I totally agree Peggy. Mary has a good eye for fun cards – and her scrapbook page is one her grandchildren will love!
Such cute cards, Mary! You should know that you were MY inspiration for getting hooked on stamping!! Thank you!
Thank you Pat!
Mary has had the effect on so many folks Pat!!
