When you design bright and cheerful handmade cards and send them to friends and family, you’re sending smiles in the mail. And with the popular Lemon-Lime Twist In Color from Stampin’ Up! it’s not hard to create happy mail! It has quickly become one of my top colours for all different occasions. You might remember my washi card a couple weeks ago, and here I’ve used it for an easy thank you card with a totally different look.
Were you like me? At first glance, the Eastern Beauty bundle just doesn’t jump off the page? I just didn’t think it was very versatile. WOW, was I wrong!
So far, I’ve made a birthday, thinking of you, congratulations, friendship and now this thank you card. I’d say that’s versatility from one stamp set! It’s hard to say which one is my favourite since they’re all unique and showcase different colours and techniques. But right now I’m pretty happy I’m able to design bright and cheerful handmade cards using this simple layout with this bundle.
There are a couple things I want to draw your attention to.
The stamped background “flower image”. Hey, where’s that in the set? It’s made by taking the six petal flower image and stamping it two times. Here’s how: Ink it and stamp it once, then ink again, and turn the image just slightly so the petal points will be right through the intersection of the first two petals. HINT: the middle will line up perfectly.
The Berry Burst frame lit “ribbon holder”. I’m not sure this was an intended use for this set, but as soon as I cut it out with my Big Shot, I remembered the Cheerful Tags set from last Christmas…do you remember it too? You could thread ribbon through it and use it as a bottle tag. So it was not a far jump for me to recreate that look with a yummy piece of Berry Burst 1/2” finely woven ribbon. (TIP: apply your adhesive, AFTER you thread your ribbon through. I used liquid glue to securely hold it in place.) See it up close.
Some tips to make your cheerful card stand out even more:
- a simple Berry Burst greeting framed with a complementary Lemon-Lime Twist circle mat
- three faceted gem “flower” centres
- images stamped off the edges of your card
The Eastern Medallions framelits are stunning on their own – check out this gorgeous card made with them and the vinyl stickers. However, if you overlooked the Eastern Beauty stamp set and you want to add some versatility to your stamping fun, you might want to take another look at pages 18-19 of the Annual Catalogue. Or simply click on any image below and you could recreate my card too.
