Use Ink Refills for an Easy Watercolour Technique

The best part about this technique is you probably have most of the items at home already. You might just need to pick up some of our Fluid 100 Watercolor paper then you’ll be all set.

Here are the items I’ve used in the photo tutorial. Add in a piece of paper towel and a board to tape your paper down to and you’re be creating in no time!

Supplies to Make Watercolour Backgrounds

Let’s see the steps to making your own watercolour background.

As long as your ink refills are classic or dye based ink, they will be awesome for this technique. Try whichever colours you have at home. TIP: Some colours do tend to work better than others for blending; just give them a try on a scrap of watercolour paper first.

I have a different background for this card, but the idea is exactly the same! Let it dry COMPLETELY before stamping right over top with your Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I used the Dragonfly Garden for my design.

  • Fluid 100 Watercolor paper – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Basic Black cardstock – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
