Today’s project is a handmade 3D tulip flower treat box perfect for anyone for Easter! I got a little “punch happy” today and pulled out a few different ones to design this cute box! Plus another die shape it might be hard to see!

I love how bright and cheery this box is! A few bold colours, shapes and designs keeps everything so happy!

How Many Punches Did I Use?

You can probably see at least two.

  1. The main 3D tulip features the Tulip Builder punch and it punches BOTH the leaves and the flower shapes.
  2. Then there are 2 sizes of scalloped circle punches in behind the greeting.
  3. And where you think there might be one more (hint: the greeting!), it’s actually a die. But which one? (Skip down a bit if you can’t wait 😉!)

How about a close-up of that sweet tulip?

Oh So SIMPLE Handmade 3D Tulip Flower Treat Box with the Tulip Builder Punch

Here are a couple TIPS to make it.

1.Because we are using a builder punch there is more than one shape it cuts each time you punch it. So to avoid wasting paper, plan how you are going to insert your paper.

a. For the tulip, start on the LEFT side of the paper, since the tulip is on the right of the punch (when you hold it upside down).

b.Move to the right for each new punch (you will need 4 in total).

2.And since we want to have the same leaf shape and design on both sides behind the flower, you have to do the following:

a. Punch one leaf on the LEFT of your designer paper with the design you want to see facing you.

b.Then turn your paper over, insert it and punch the second one. That way your leaves will be identical.

Which Die Did I Use?

Rather than a plain old ordinary rectangle, I wanted to use a punch for the greeting. But none of our current ones worked really well for me.

Although it technically does fit in the Timeless Label punch (so you can use that in a pinch), it didn’t leave enough white space on the edges for me. So here’s what I did.

  1. First I stamped my greeting on a scrap piece of Whisper White with Gorgeous Grape ink.
  2. Then I cropped it out with one of the Painted Label dies.
  3. And lastly I used my trimmer to trim it down to size.

Plus now it has that cool little embossed edge too!

Now It’s Your Turn!

It’s time for Easter greetings. While you may not be having your usual guests around your Easter table this year with the coronavirus, you can still spread a little sunshine and leave these on doorsteps. Make up a few with the spring colours you have. And if you need any of the supplies, get them now by clicking on any of them here.
