Today I want to show you how to emboss with metal dies for a cool look – without needing any fancy plates or rubber mats! Check it out in my short video.

I love to show you how you can use your tools in different ways. And this is a fun way you can use your metal dies for more than cutting out shapes.

See how pretty this die is from the Many Hearts Dies. it almost doesn’t look like a heart when it’s upside down does it? (which was a mistake by the way! 😋))

Like this die? It’s part of the Many Hearts Dies which I also used for this Valentines card.

Here’s a few quick tips for making a card with your embossed image.

A Quick Card for Any Occasion

1. Cover the Ridge

The ridge I talk about in the video you can’t see here. That’s because I covered it with the pretty Rococo Rose scalloped ribbon.

You could also add some washi tape. Or another piece of paper. Or stamp your greeting and cut out a label to place over it.

Alternatively, use the same sized piece of paper to emboss AND cut. There’s all kinds of ways you can disguise it!

2. Glue? Or Double Sided Adhesive?

I tried both liquid glue and double sided adhesive to affix my embossed panel. And even thought there’s still a little ripple along the bottom you can see in the photo above, the Stampin’ SEAL worked the best at sticking it down. I think because it has more even coverage.

3. Cut Along the Edge for Some Fun

Instead of leaving the bottom edge straight, use a pair of scissors to cut close to the embossed shape still leaving a little border. It just makes your card have a bit more of a polished look.

I hope you can see how you can get more life from your craft supplies with this simple tip. Give it a try today!

I do love the way this card turned out. You can see how it looks here with two of the other In Colors. Which one is your favourite? Seaside Spray, Purple Posy or Rococo Rose? (And notice the other two have the hearts going the RIGHT way! LOL!)
