Today let’s CASE the Cattie again and see how to make a gift tag for with the Seasonal Swirls and your Layering Circles dies.
What’s a CASE?
For crafters, CASE stands for Copy And Share Everything. It’s a super way to take a design we see and make it with supplies we have in our own stash. To find out more about CASEing, click here.
If someone you know copies one of your designs, be excited! It’s the highest form of flattery! It means they loved what you created!
I do a weekly live video series called CASE the Cattie to show you exactly how to make items from the our beautiful Stampin’ Up! publications. You can see all of them by clicking right here.
Or even better, watch them live on my Facebook page every Thursday at 11 am MT!
Today’s design comes from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue out now until Setpember 30th. Do you know which page I used as my inspiration for this project?

This was my fall leaves version of the design the Stampin’ Up! artist made. I made two others you will love to see! Just click the triangle below to catch them.
How to Make a Gift Tag
The design in the catalogue uses an actual tag shaped die. But I wanted to show you how you can use items you may already own!
Click the triangle to see it now!
Unlike the Christmas design in the catalogue, I mixed Bumblebee, Misty Moonlight and Calypso Coral for this design, relying on the Harvest Meadow designer series paper to pick my colours.
You can see this same fall paper in action here where I showed you how to make the fun envelope.

This one was pretty easy I think…but did you figure out what sample I CASEd with my stamps, ink and dies? You can see it on page 9 of our 2021 Sale-a-Bration Catalogue…or how about I give you a BIG hint!

You can see how there are a few things in common with the catalogue gift tag and mine. They’re round, there’s designer series paper peeking through, and they are other stamps added for interest.
That’s how I start to CASE the Cattie. By asking “what characteristics does their design have that really stand out and I can piggy back on?” Then I start to play!
Time to Play At Home!
Grab your own Layering Circles Dies, a greeting stamp and if you have it, a wreath die to recreate this gift tag!
And if you don’t have a wreath? Take a peek at the video again to see how one of my alternatives doesn’t use a wreath for another great idea! Then take a page out of my book and CASE the Cattie!
Cuttin’ It Up!
- Calypso Coral – 3 1/2″ x 6″, scored at 3″ and folded in half, a 2nd piece about 3 1/2″ square
- DSP – about 3 1/2″ square
- Basic White, Misty Moonlight and Bumblebee – scraps
If you want to try this card with the same items I used, you can click on any image below to order and have it shipped directly to you. I really appreciate you choosing me as your Canadian demonstrator.
Supplies ListWhat Would You Like Me to CASE?
Grab your catalogues! Perhaps there’s a card or tag or a 3D item you absolutely love, but you’re not too sure how to make it? Let me know which one it is and maybe I can give it a try on my next CASE the Cattie.

While I do love the fall tones for this tag and the cheerful mix of orange and blue, it probably wasn’t the favourite of my live video attendees. They loved that sunflower one even more!

So if you ever want to know how to make a gift tag even if you don’t have a “gift tag” die, take a page out of my CASE the Cattie and give one a try!
Dear Jo,
Could you please case the mini catalog, I think it’s page 38 .The page with the Flowing Flowers stamp set. The 3D gift box is so gorgeous. And the cards are so pretty. It would be so nice to see how SU got those results with this stamp set.
Thanks
Good idea Bonnie! Will add it to my list of projects to feature!
