How to Make Gift Tags at Home
So let’s learn how to make our own plaid to dress up quick 3×3 gift tags super quickly.
How to Make Gift Tags at Home
To get two-toned plaid like this here are the steps.
Step 1: Place your Plaid clear stamp on your Stamparatus. Leave a little bit of clearance around the stamp (I left about an inch) Place your cardstock also about 1” below the top of the Stamparatus. Hold in place with a magnet.
Step 2: Ink up your stamp with a Night of Navy pad. TIP: Hold your ink pad as flat as possible and pat several times over the rubber. Make sure to repeat over some areas so the edges of the ink pad colour are softened. TIP: A well inked ink pad is essential to good coverage.
Step 3: Lower the acrylic plate onto your cardstock and stamp image TIP: Don’t be afraid to apply pressure on the stamp especially around the top and edges. TIP: Check your impression to make sure it is fully inked. If not, re-ink the stamp and stamp again until you are happy with the coverage. CLEAN stamp well.
Step 4: Lift plate out of the Stamparatus and move to the left ONE hinge. Ink stamp with the SECOND colour and stamp.
Step 5: Clean stamp, remove cardstock, cut to size and use on your gift tags.
I really like the little space left where the Vanilla shows through and the overlap of the green and navy. To show up the vanilla even more, I added the tag to a plain Very Vanilla box I created with my Gift Bag punch board. A simple strip of the left over plaid decorates the side and the Braided Linen trim adds a happy bow.
Cuttin’ It Up!
- Very Vanilla cardstock to stamp on – 1 piece 4 1/2” x 5 1/2” TIP: I cut my paper to be about the same size as my background so I don’t waste., 1 scrap piece
- Plaid stamped cardstock – 2 3/4” x 2 3/“, cut AFTER stamping
- Shaded Spruce cardstock – 3” x 6”, scored at 3”
- Night of Navy cardstock – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
- Tranquil Tide glimmer paper – piece at least 2 1/2” square
Isn’t it fun to create gift tags perfectly coordinated for your boxes and presents? What fella wouldn’t love to see this gift with HIS name on it (bow included!)?
And now you know how to make gift tags at home, you can make every colour under the rainbow for all the occasions you celebrate!
