We’re all about CASEing the Cattie today so you can see how to use alcohol markers for backgrounds! This is an awesome technique and a gorgeous way to frame your cards!
Have You Ever CASEd?
When we CASE something as paper crafters, we are giving the highest compliment to the original artist we can! We are Copying And Share Everything about the project they made. What a super way to bring their ideas into our craft rooms and make them our own! To find out more, click here.
You may not know I have a weekly live video series called CASE the Cattie. I created it to show you exactly how to copy designs from the fabulous Stampin’ Up! publications. It’s hard to believe we’ve done eleven so far. You can find all the previous episodes by clicking right here.
To see me make them live, all you need to do is head on over to my Facebook page every Thursday at 11 am MT!
Before we get to the project, one of the things I love to have you guess is which 2021-22 Annual Catalogue page I used as my inspiration for this card?
This was the card I demonstrated for you although I shared three other designs you will also love. See them all by clicking on the triangle below.
How to Use Alcohol Markers for Backgrounds
When I CASE a design, I never like to make it exactly as in the catalogues. For one thing I may not have the stamps they used. And for another, I want to give you more ideas for alternatives so you can hopefully see that stamps and supplies you have at home will work equally well.
Click the triangle to see it now!
This one I’m showing here has a bit more colour in it than the one in the book.
Do you like it with the bold Blackberry Bliss?
Or do you like the softer look with the Fresh Freesia?
Did you figure out what sample I CASEd with my stamps, ink and paper? You can see it on page 48 of our 2021-22 Annual Catalogue…or how about I give you a hint and you can guess?
Time to Try It At Home!
Grab your own stamps, vellum and Stampin’ Blends to recreate this card!
Here are the measurements.

Want to See How A Sample is Made?
There are so many samples in the Stampin’ Up! catalogue, there’s probably one you’ve been wondering about. So grab that catalogue! Then send me the page number and which one it is and I can give it a try on my next CASE the Cattie.

While I was pretty happy with the way the Positive Thoughts stamps worked on this card, I’ve got a few more samples in a variety of colours to show you in the video too. You might even have the stamps to make one of them!
Now you know how to use alcohol markers for backgrounds to frame your design, hopefully you caught a little bit of inspiration to grab your supplies to create a card for a special someone – see you again next week!
