No fancy supplies, no panic crafting.

Just clever ways to use up all those little bits you’ve already coloured, cut or embossed — and thought you’d “save for later.” (Spoiler: this is later.😉)

Use What You’ve Already Made

When I prepped for my Ink Paper & Play LIVE last week, I had a lightbulb moment. Why keep hoarding half-done bits when I could turn them into something adorable? And be done in next to no time?!

Those pre-coloured stamped images, leftover die-cut letters or cardstock strips? Perfect! Even better if you’ve got watercoloured pieces or embossed pieces of cardstock from last week’s post IPP Live. See that cool technique here.

This was a true “aha” moment, realizing that the creative work was already done. Al lI needed to do was pull them together, pop on some decorative elements, and TADAH! Three sweet little treatholders perfect for the little ghosts headed your way on Halloween!

Here’s what you need to know.

Three Easy Ways to Make Last-Minute Treatholders

You can watch all three ideas step-by-step in the Ink Paper & Play LIVE replay. Each one takes mere minutes, uses scraps and works for any occasion once you change the paper and greeting.

1.Ghost “BOO” Wrapper

• Start with a cut off scrap of Designer Series Paper in a Hallowe’en-ish colour. I used Pumpkin Pie here and Granny Apple Green in the video.
• Wrap it snugly around your candy bar and secure with Tear & Tape. See the tip in the video for placement.
• Decorate with a some labels, circles and a small shiny ghost (mine’s from the retired Owl Builder Punch).
• Add a glitzy “BOO” again from last week’s Ink Paper Play Live Technique — no stamping required!

2.“EEK” Wrap-Around Band

• Use a cutoff narrow strip (1¼″–1½″ wide) of cardstock (or DSP) and wrap it around a small cello bag of candy. (See the tip in the video below to make this even easier)
• Glue the ends in the front so there’s a good overlap for security.
• Layer punched element pieces on top. This owl is meant for a birthday, but colour up the hat in black and orange to make it seasonal! Bonus? It was pre-stamped and sitting in my stamp case.
• Add some die-cut letters from your stash. Mismatched colours? Perfect for Halloween!
• Decorate with a few dots and a bow in a coordinating colour.

3. Googly Sunglasses Ghost Bag Topper

• Fold a scrap of cardstock in half to make a simple topper for a bag of treats. Have the width be the same size as your clear bag. (My bags came from Amazon. See my suggested option here.)
• Attach it with a couple staples.
• Layer smaller bits of decorated DSP, like I did in the video. Or add a cutout image from a leftover piece of embossed cardstock.
• Add a greeting (also pre-done and sitting in my stash).

💡 Tip: Don’t limit yourself to Halloween! Swap “BOO” for “THANKS” or “JOY” and make the same design work for birthdays or Christmas favours.

How to Make This Idea Your Own

Here’s where your stash shines!

• Use pre-coloured flowers, hearts or critters from other projects.
• Turn leftover alphabet letters into new words (“FUN,” “WOW,” “SWEET”, “BDAY”).
• Combine mismatched ribbon ends for quirky charm.
• Use clear embossing on plain scraps to give them glossy, foil-like texture — just like I showed in last week’s emboss-punch trick!
