Let’s take a peek at the sketch we’re designing with today.
Now you might be saying “meh, doesn’t do anything for me“.
But wait! It might tickle your fancy a teensy bit more when you see the paper and colours I picked!
Well? Did it change your mind?
Three words.
To. Die. For.
It was love at first sight for me with the Peaceful Place DSP. I was so excited to show you it, I was making my very first 2021 Christmas greeting on July 29th! It’s so quick and easy with the scenery paper. See it here.
I think it’s the mix of subtle and rich greys, paired up with shiny silver! Some is elegant and some more rustic. Evergreens, cheery checks, soft snowflakes, cozy cabins, wiggly woodgrain…there’s something here for everyone!
Gosh darn perfect for holiday – or even New Year’s maybe? – greetings!

How to Use an Easy Sketch for Handmade Cards
Cuttin’ It Up!
- base colour cardstock (mine is Basic White) – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″, scrap
- designer series paper – 1 piece 1″ x 4 1/4″, 2nd piece 2″ x 4 1/4″
- foil/glimmer/specialty paper (mine is Black Glitter paper) – 1/4″ x 4 1/4″, scrap at least 2 1/2″
- cardstock – to coordinate with rest of card – scrap
- ribbon – to coordinate with card – about 13″ to be able to tie a bow
Here are the supplies I used that you can save, print or order directly from Stampin’ Up!
Let’s Make It!
1.Stamp greeting in Versamark ink onto scrap of Basic White and sprinkle with black embossing powder. Heat with heat tool. (If you are new to heat embossing or would just like a refresher, check out my videos by clicking here.)
2. Crop the greeting (I used the retired Wrapped in Christmas for this card) in a circle with the Layering Circles Dies. (this die is 1 3/8″ in diameter) At the same time, crop a 1 5/8″ circle from Real Red and a 1 7/8″ circle from the Black Glitter paper. Glue all three together with liquid glue.
3. Glue your pieces of designer series papers/foil or glitter paper according to the sketch. The narrowest is at the bottom and is about 1 1/2″ from the bottom. Glue the next above it, making sure to have it butt right up against the edge of the glitter paper. Then glue the largest piece above that.
4. Place the ribbon inside the card and wrap around to the front aligning it up with where the two top DSP sheets meet. Tie in a bow off to the left.
5. Remove backing from dimensionals and adhere in place. Add red rhinestones as shown.
Want to see another idea?
Turn your card making on its head! Simple switches change this design immediately. Here’s how:
- turn the card so the fold is on the left,
- use the same layout, but have it lie on its side,
- choose totally different designer series papers and foil,
- leave off the bow and just use ribbon as another element!
Just like I did here!
