Want a simple card for a special friend!? You’ll love this one with its simplicity – and a couple extra steps to make it extra pretty.
But before we get to the card itself, I’d like to ask you a question.
Have you ever really sat down to think about why you make cards?
The Joy of Handmade Cards
Handmade cards are not just pieces of paper; they’re expressions of creativity, thoughtfulness, and genuine human connection.
Especially in our fast-paced world.
Let’s talk a little bit today about how the charm of a handwritten note or a carefully crafted handmade card remains unparalleled both for you, the creator and the happy recipient you send it to.
Our design today is not too over-the-top hard or time consuming to make. But it’s one a special friend would love to pull out of her mailbox.
(But if you have a looming card deadline and only have about 5 minutes to make a card, see an even simpler version down below.)
How You Spread Sunshine With You Card Making
If you ever start thinking the time you spend making – and sending – cards is a bit…oh, frivolous, I hope this little story changes your mind.
I was recently sent a message from someone who was a new friend I met through what I do right here for you. I had sent her a little note in the mail tucked into a card.
Here’s what she emailed me when she received it.
“Today didn’t start out so great as I’m having a fair number of health issues. But when I opened my mailbox, I saw a lovely envelope with your beautiful writing on it. And when I saw the card, it made me smile. You know how to make someone feel very special. Thank you Jo. You don’t know how your thoughtfulness gave me the lift I needed.”
Now the card I sent was pretty, yes. But it wasn’t one I spent hours and hours creating.
It was fairly simple like today’s design actually.
But not only did the simple act of sending a hand crafted card make her day, her comments back to me made mine!
Add to that, the joy you get when you’re in your craft space with the music playing and your colours spread out around you?
There’s nothing frivolous about it – at all!
You get to relieve stress, get creative and add your own personality to paper all at the same time.
You might even say it’s therapeutic!
Simple Card for a Special Friend
Don’t you think the Bubble Bath pink is the perfect shade for these delicate summer roses? I was thinking about the glossy green leaves on a rose bush when I picked the Mossy Meadow green to complement it.
Here are a couple tips if you’d like to make this design too.
- stamp the flowers and foliage onto the Very Vanilla cardstock before you emboss it
- add the blending brush around the edges only and leave the centre clean so the flower stands out more (sort of like it has a halo)
- keep the sentiment smaller and framed in the same colour as the flower petals
- add the greeting with dimensionals
For a totally different card with a powerful punch of colour – but still that’s quick and easy (and your friend will love) take a peek at how to show off your designer series paper.
An Even Simpler Version
If you want an even quicker card, this one fits the bill. Simply stamp right onto a Very Vanilla card. Add a little bow and a couple pretty sequins and you’re done in 5 minutes flat!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!
