Giving a gift card this year – then let me show you a simple trick to make any card a gift card holder.
Gift cards make the perfect gift. Convenient, practical, pint-sized and affordable, they’re great for everyone on your list.
And while you could pay extra for the store’s mass-produced (and frankly unimaginative) holder, why not combine your gift giving with your card sharing and make your own?
All you need is one little punch, a piece of cardstock, and a ready-made card.
Let’s see it.
What a simple design and lovely – non-traditional holiday – colour combo. It’s Blackberry Bliss, Purple Posy and a mat of Perennial Essence DSP.
Recognize the Champagne foil leaves embellishment? I’ve used the pretty Itty Bitty Christmas bundle again, like I did with this sweet snowflake design. Adorned with a few Noble Peacock rhinestones, it’s quick and easy and elegant for gift giving this year.
“So Jo, that’s great. But it looks suspiciously like a plain ordinary card!” Is that what you’re thinking? Yup, it sure looks like it. But take a peek on the inside.
Fun, right? My friend Anita shared this idea at our team get together and her inspiration came from France Martin. It was too great to not share with you.
So let me give you the super quick how-to.
Use This Simple Trick to Make any Card a Gift Card Holder
Cuttin’ It Up!
- ready made card
- coordinating cardstock 4” x 2 1/4”
- Optional: coordinating DSP 2 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
- liquid glue or Tear & Tape
Jo’s TIPS to Make It!
1.Glue together DSP and cardstock, if using, as I did here. Then insert 4 1/4” wide end of paper into Classic Label punch, lining up the left and top edge of the paper with the left and top edge of the punch (as you’re looking at it from the back)
2.Punch, then move the punch so the right and top edge of the paper is now lined up with the right and top edge of the punch. This should automatically ensure your label punch is perfectly aligned, but take a quick peek through the punch to make sure it is before you punch.
3.Punch then remove punch. Stamp greeting under punched out label shape.
4. Add glue (or Tear & Tape) around all four sides of the cardstock, making sure to add adhesive ABOVE the punched out opening. Glue to bottom inside of card.
5. Insert gift card.
Make It Your Own!
What stamps and papers do you have at home to whip up a few of these? TIP: Use non-holiday DSP just like I did here and on this diagonal fun fold card. You might be surprised how festive it turns out!
And you can always grab these supplies to recreate my design at home. The Itty Bitty Christmas bundle will be retiring at the beginning of January so you might want to grab it now while it’s still 10% off!Simple Trick to Make Any Card a Gift Card Holder
