Want to see some stunning handmade black and white cards? In honour of today being National Opposite Day, I wanted to showcase the exact same card in two totally opposite colour schemes!

The Dainty Delight bundle is perfect for this design since it has images that are open line. This means it’s like a drawing and you could – if you want – go in and colour it.

But even more important? The shape die that cuts out the stamped image once you’ve made your impression.

See what I mean below.

What is Opposite Day?

A day meant totally to have fun all day long saying exactly the opposite of what you really mean. Kids and adults alike love it! So I thought, “why not play along and take a peek at how you can create different looks just by changing up one thing!”

Let’s see the first of our cards.

Stunning Handmade Black and White Cards
You can’t beat black and white cards for maximum WOW!

This one features Memento Black ink on crisp Basic White but with a fun opposite detail in the flower image. (Read further to get the how-to so you can make one yourself.)

And this one showcases the design with a complete changeover of the black and white!

Stunning Handmade Black and White Cards

Don’t you agree? There’s just something about the boldness of white and black – and ONLY white and black – paired together on a card.

Let’s see what tricks were involved in these designs.

Stunning Handmade Black and White Cards

One really cool thing about these cards is you can make two more cards at the same time!

Card One – Black on White

Stamp and emboss in white on black for a stunning look!

To get the first look, first stamp the greeting in Memento Black ink to the middle left of a 4″ x 4 3/4″ Basic White panel.

Stamp, then cut out the flower shape to the right of the sentiment with your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine and the Dainty Flowers dies.

Position the panel over the card base (but don’t glue it down yet).

Then stamp the flower THROUGH the cutout with Versamark ink onto the black card base. Remove the front panel and heat emboss with white embossing powder.

Your rubber stamped images will pop off the page when you try a couple of these tips.

Card Two – White on Black

TIP: You will definitely need your Embossing Buddy for this one!

Lightly rub it over your black cardstock before you start!

Don’t forget your Embossing Buddy for creating white embossing on black cardstock

For this one, stamp your greetin in Versamark and heat emboss with white embossing powder.

Then again, cut out the flower image with the Dainty Flower Dies.

Position the black card panel over top of the white cardbase and stamp through it with Memento ink.

If you love this Dainty Delight stamp bundle, you can see it again, along with the free Sale-a-Bration Dainty Flowers paper in my popular post, 5 minute handmade trifold card.

Try to Make Some Opposite Cards Too!

Pretty much any stamp you have will work for these two opposing cards! I think an open line one will give you a card will enjoy more. But what is important is to have a die shape that exactly cuts out the stamped image so a bundle like Dainty Delight is ideal!

Here are all the supplies I used – click on this list that you can print, pin or order from. Thank you for ordering with me in Canada!

Let’s take a look at these two side by side.
