With the Bright & Beautiful DSP, you don’t need to stamp – you can use dies and DSP for a WOW card! This is another card in my masculine – and patterned paper – series!

You told me guy cards are some of the most challenging to make. So, I took up the challenge too and have been making cards you can use for fellas. Yes, even ones with little bits of ribbon, like this one!

A fun and colourful design with the Alphabet Ala Mode and Bright & Beautiful DSP

There’s just something about a bold and bright card, isn’t there? it revs you up and gets you energized!

If there’s anything that makes me excited, it’s getting lots of versatility from one tool or supply. That’s exactly the case with this Bright & Beautiful DSP! Here it’s really bright and cheerful.

In this double embossed peek through daisies card, it’s so much softer and gentler.

That takes some doin’ from the artists at Stampin’ Up!! And I think it’s awesome! I promise you’ll get lots of bang for your buck with this little pack of paper.

Another staple in your card making tool box will become this Alphabet Ala Mode set of dies. At 1-9/16″ high and with a narrow profile, you’ll be able to create lots of combos on your cards and scrapbook pages. It’s something you’ll use over and over again!

Here are a few of my top TIPS for this particular design.

Jo’s Design Tips

1) Pick a shape you love!

There are two main shapes in this card, the stars and the circle layers. While you could always use large stars for your labels, it would be a bit of overkill. Instead the large-sized circles anchor the card and draw attention to the greeting.

2) Capitalize on the paper pattern theme!

Once the letters and circles were in place, I knew it needed just a little bit something MORE. So I pulled out my Give It a Whirl Dies and cut some stars in the same colours from the DSP. Scatter them in and around the greeting and label so they stand out. Use liquid glue for some and mini dimensionals for only one or two.

3) Rev up the colour!

While the colours in the paper ARE fairly bright, I wanted even bolder for the greeting. So the green matting circle isn’t the Lemon Lime Twist in the paper. It’s Parakeet Party which is a bit brighter and grabs your attention more! Also placing the Azure Afternoon letters on a white background makes them pop too!

4) Be chintzy on the embellishments

Choose your embellishments wisely when you have a paper and card with so much going on already. A few clear rhinestones and two small loops of ribbon are all you need. (Especially when it’s for a guy since bows and frills are probably not really his cup of tea!)

Finish It Up!

So so far we haven’t done any rubber stamping on the card! Eeek!

Just in case you think we forgot about our stamps, pads and blocks, that’s where the inside comes to life!

Use the Good Feelings stamps to create a two tone greeting. Offset it with a couple left over stars and you have a completely coordinated inside.
