I wanted to make a simple guys birthday card today. Masculine colours, design and theme. But with just a little something extra. Both rubber stamped images are heat embossed with silver embossing powder. Let’s take a closer peek.

The boat is stamped first on the card front then the embossed image is put right over top. And it’s easy – and relatively inexpensive to get started!

What Do I Need to Heat Emboss Handmade Cards?

Just the Basics

Card making for guys can sometimes be a challenge. That’s why I like to feature them every once in awhile. You might also like this one for a fun and colourful birthday

I like quick and easy, but super great designs. So this one is one you can make in just a few steps! Here are the measurements and directions.

Cuttin’ It Up!

  • Basic Black – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″, scrap 1/4″ x 41/4″. See three ways for how to score a card here.
  • Smoky Slate – 2 pieces 4″ x 5 1/4″ (one for inside the card)
  • Basic Gray – scrap
  • Basic Gray designer series paper – 3 1/2″ x 1 1/2″

Let’s Make It!

Find Out What Do I Need to Heat Emboss Handmade Cards? in my Short Video

1.Stamp boat in Basic Gray ink onto right hand side of Smoky Slate panel. Glue to front of folded Basic Black card. Glue remaining panel to inside of card.

2.Stamp boat in Versamark ink onto scrap of Basic Gray cardstock, sprinkle with silver embossing powder and heat until shiny. Let dry a few seconds and cut out with scissors.

3. Insert end of Basic Black cardstock strip into Triple Banner punch and make a banner. Repeat for the strip of designer series paper.

4.Next stamp greeting in Versamark across strip of Basic Black cardstock and heat emboss with silver embossing powder in the same way as in 2 above.

5. Glue patterned paper to top left of card. Add dimensionals to greeting strip and place on top and a little to the right. Put dimensionals on back of boat and glue directly on top of the stamped image on the bottom right.

6. Add one Designer Element to top of greeting banner.
