Just a pretty little design to send some happy thoughts to someone you care about.
But there’s just something about it that says “Look at ME” right? Can you see what those something’s are?
Let’s find out in a teeny bit more detail.
3 Tips for Handmade Cards that Stand Out
If you want your cards to be kept up on the mantle for weeks, try a couple of these tips.
Easy Tips for Over-the-Top Cards
1.Go BOLD!
Choose colours that almost pop off the page! Deep black, grey or navy are always attention getters. But don’t overdo it. Too much black can be…well…a bit depressing! Instead use it as an accent and a focal point and pair it with other bold colours. Like the Polished Pink I used here.
Black and navy work especially well with white also as it’s such a deep contrast. The flower is stamped in Versamark then heat embossed with white powder which is stunning on the black.
2.Add a dash of bling!
Although bling itself isn’t any big revelation 😋, it’s the type and amount of bling that might be.
The only colouring on the black is done with my Wink of Stella glimmer brush. Subtle yet beautiful, it completely takes your card recipient IN to look closer! They’ll “think” they saw a bit of something sparkly, but they won’t be sure until they twist and turn the card in the light!
But that’s not all. Pair the subtle shimmer with some sparkle too. Just remember…less really IS more. Clear Basic Rhinestone gems here completely complement the simplicity and elegance of our design and doesn’t overpower the cute little flower.

3 Choose snappy shapes!
Rather than go for the standard circle or rectangle shape, I decided to use one of the tags from the Designer Tags Dies. With its stitching lines and pretty cutout top, it instantly elevates your design.
When you choose shapes with their own fancy decorations built right in, you don’t really need any other fancy elements besides the shape itself!

Bonus Tip! Change Up the Size of Your Card!
All you have to do to create some instant buzz around your card is to vary your card shape. Here, I made a 4″ square card.
Why’d I pick that size?
So my tag wouldn’t get lost! If I had even gone a 1/2″ bigger, the tag would begin to look a bit too small and the proportions would be a bit wrong.

Which Tip Will You Use First!
