Just imagine someone opening this card from you! What’s the first word they’ll say?

I think “WOW”!!

Let’s see where the inspiration came from for this card. And find out exactly what my definition of “copy” is!!

One thing to keep in mind when you’re copying a design? Don’t forget to add your own personal touches! Let your own inner artist take over and your projects will take on a life of their own!

Here’s the card from the Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalogue I copied.

Can you spot the differences between it and mine?

Copy a Fun Christmas Card Everyone Will LOVE
  1. My card size is smaller. I chose to do a slimline version of this card rather than the same one the SU! artist made. My card is 3″ x 6″, scored at 3″ and the Basic White panel is 2 7/8″ x 5 /8″.
  2. I left off the die cut background dots. If you want to copy a design but don’t have quite as much time, consider changing the card slightly. Although I do have that fabulous die (the circles are from the Labels Aglow set), it’s a bit more fussy to make the card so I thought I would leave it out.
  3. My placement of circles is different. If you look closely you’ll see my circles are not glued down exactly like the sample. I didn’t want to have to keep looking at the sample as I was making it so I free-styled!!
  4. I added some extras! Rather than leave off embellishments like the Stampin’ Up! designer did, I thought a few of the Seasonal Sequins added a nice touch.

Emboss your greeting for extra shine, then add some matching sequins!

We made these cards at our last Koffee & a Kard class so I have another sample to show you down below. I’m curious which one you’ll like better. Be sure to let me know with a comment.

Your Turn to Copy It Too

All you need is a circle die and some glimmer paper (I think you’ll probably already have the patterned paper LOL!) to craft up this fun card.

Don’t have a die cutting machine? Pull out your circle punches.

Not fond of slimline cards? Make this same design as a regular A2 card. (Take a peek at some common greeting card sizes).

Not sure about heat embossing? Use regular coloured ink for your greeting.

There are so many ways to both copy…and make this card your OWN. Give it a try!

Here are all the supplies I used – click on this list that you can print, pin or order from. Thanks so much for ordering your supplies through me if you live in Canada and supporting my Design with Jo business.

Make Alternate Designs Easily

Just changing up one or two elements really changes the look of this card.

Which one do you like the best?

Use different paper (this one’s from the same package of Bought of Holly). Switch out the bow colours. Pick a new greeting!

So even if you get bored – no! say it isn’t so! – with making the same cards for the holidays, these little change-ups keep you happy and excited about the end result!

So flip through your catalogues and copy a fun Christmas card everyone will love and see how you can add your own personal flair!
