What three things should you look for in a handmade card layout so you use it over and over again? I’ll tell you in today’s post!
First let’s look at our card project.

Some of our Flowering Fields DSP shines here for a bold and pretty card. And when you add it to the back of the envelope flap, your entire ensemble is coordinated! Think how special your mom/daughter/sister/etc. will feel when she sees it in her mail!
Handmade Card Layout To Use Over and Over
Be sure to pin or print this layout so you can find it easily. It’s such a great one for you to switch up a couple elements and you have a totally fresh design!

But what are 3 things about this layout that will have you using it over and over?
3 Things to Look for in a Handmade Card Layout
A) Versatility
You can use any kind of designer series paper for this card. Whether you need a baby shower card, a kid’s birthday card or a wedding card, change up the patterned paper to convey the right message.
B) Simple Shapes
Change the sentiment shape for lovely layering. Whatever labels, punches or dies you have will work with this design. Although I mixed and matched the Layering Circles Dies with the Beautiful Shapes Die (largest circle), try it with rectangles or tags. Maybe you’ll like hearts or ovals instead. Each shape will give the card a different feel too.
And the patterned paper is a very simple rectangle. The paper you use will bring it to life!

C) Ability to Add or Subtract
With any layout, you want to be able to change it up and make it your own. So, adding embellishments like ribbon or rhinestones is a great way to give it some personality. For today’s card, I added the cutout in behind the largest circle to give it some pizzazz. But you don’t have to do any of that and the layout will still stand alone.
Now It’s Your Turn!
Design a card using the supplies you have at home. Or if you think you’d like to use what I did, just click here and you can pin, print or order the items. Thanks so much for shopping with me!
