What items on this card are new?
- Adorable Owls stamps for the owl and the greeting – free with a $60 order starting January 5th!
- Country Floral Lane DSP (for the more blue pattern)
- and Country Floral Lane DSP 🙂 for the little Sweet Sorbet heart background
I love the whimsical blue hearts in this new designer series paper! It’s ideal for both girl and guy cards! For instance, I think this card is destined for my hubby this year. That’s why I picked the owl with the bow tie for the main image. (There’s also an owl flying and one with a cute party hat.)
The Country Floral Lane DSP coordinates with a new heart builder punch as well. There’s a whole sheet you can punch out quickly for fast Valentine’s cards.
On top of that, with a colour palette and patterns like this, you’ll be crafting up scrapbook pages, 3D gift items, even home decor…so many possibilities!

Tips You’ll Love to Use in Your Next Card
Use Stampin’ Blends to Colour
You can’t beat the shading you can get with these superb alcohol markers. Not only will you get realistic colour, they match our Stampin’ Up! colours so your image will tie together perfectly!
I pulled the colours from the designer series paper for my owl. Balmy Blue and Petal Pink are in the paper, with some Crumb Cake and a tiny bit of the Pale Papaya and Ivory Stampin’ Blends.

Create a Backdrop for Your Critter
Make the owl stand out even more, but giving him a more solid, but not completely solid, background. This Sweet Sorbet paper is actually the reverse of the blue hearts one I used.
Pull in punches like the Heart Punch Pack duo to add even more pow! The larger scalloped heart is cut from a piece of Orchid Oasis glimmer paper from the 2022-24 In Color Glimmer paper. While not a perfect match to the Balmy Blue, it’s pretty near impossible to tell!
Make a Different Card
Play with a slightly different layout for some variety. Here it’s hard to tell but there’s a nice stiff Window Sheet over top of the blue heart paper. It’s firm enough to stand up while allowing you to see every little bit of the pretty design.
Cut your Window Sheet to be 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″ and take a sliver off the short end. Then line it right up with the fold and glue it to the small white section. (The white is 4 1/4″ x 7″, scored at 1 1/2″).
To complete the design, add some glue right onto the back of the Window Sheet just at the top and about 1/4″ in from the sides and attach your patterned paper. It will hide any adhesive wonderfully.
Add Some Fun With Baker’s Twine
Double up your twine for a fuller bow. Use about 12″ and fold it in half then make a small bow. After you’re happy with your bow, cut the ends so you have 4 lengths.
To make the bow even more special, use your Bone Folder to run the twine along its edge. It will curl the twine just a little bit.
