Your rubber stamped images will pop off the page when you try a couple of these tips.

Easy Tips for Amazing Colouring

  • Coordinate your alcohol markers to your cardstock. As my card background is Starry Sky, I choose to make her dress the same colour. I could also have used Basic Black, but I thought that might be a bit drab with the rest of the card (and after all, she is a FUN witch!)
  • Leave lighter areas in your coloured designs. Although her dress is quite dark, there is shading along the edges and bottom with the Dark Starry Sky, and a lighter sort of oval in the middle left. This adds interest and draws the eye so the dress looks a bit more realistic.
  • Create a more realistic look by shading under your images. I used the Light Smoky Slate marker to make little lines under her feet and the fire. Then used the Color Lifter to blend out the lines so they look more smudged. It means your image isn’t just floating in the air (although a witch probably could float! LOL!)
  • Do the unexpected! Why not have green hair on a witch?
  • Amp up the coloured areas. Use your Wink of Stella to pick out and draw attention to coloured elements. We all love a little sparkle but in this case, don’t overdo it. The buckle on her hat is all I added the Wink to so it would stand out.

Who says a witch can’t have green hair?

This is a fun flap fold card we recreated – sort of – on our Facebook Live group a couple weeks ago. It was a fall design though rather than Halloween. We get together every Tuesday at 1 pm Mountain Time.

Get Busy with Your Blends!

All you need is an open line image stamp to create awesome cards like this one. Besides Halloween, you might like to use a leaf, a sunflower or a pumpkin for fall. Or balloons, candles and cake for a birthday! There’s unlimited ideas out there!

Here are all the supplies I used – click on this list that you can print, pin or order from. I really appreciate you ordering with me and supporting my Design with Jo business.

Where’s the Frog?

Let’s take a look at the inside flap on this cutie to see our impish frog.

Isn’t his expression priceless? Can’t you practically hear him saying “yah,…witch smitch…I can make a better potion than that green haired girlie!”

But back to my Stampin’ Blends. Although it did take me a few tries to settle on my colouring “style”, I love these markers for their vibrant colour. Believe me, once you start, they’re a tool you’ll reach for again and again!
