This quick card to make with vellum just might change your mind about fussy cutting! Even when you have to hand cut the flowers image, the result is a simple yet stunning card!

What’s the first thing you notice about this card?

Is it the white on pink flowers? Or maybe the white sentiment? It could even be the different neutral tone of the card itself?

I’ve been playing lately with vellum with all its wonderful paper crafting glory!! I think it’s a totally under utilized card making supply.

In fact I bet you might even have some tucked away in a drawer somewhere just looking for a card design!

Quick Card to Make with Vellum

But today’s card isn’t made with just your run-of-the-mill garden variety vellum. It’s shimmer vellum that I’ve embossed the flowers from the free Sale-a-bration Friendly Hello stamp set on.

Let’s take a closer look!

That silvery sheen catches the light beautifully! Imagine how awesome this will look on your friend’s mantel with the light glinting off it!!

Because vellum is basically “plastic” paper, it’s best to heat emboss your stamped images so they become permanent. Here I used the Basics embossing powder set with white powder to really show off the pink. I also used a Versamark ink pad to stamp both the flowers and my words.

It has a lovely weight, is easily heavy enough to take heat embossing, and has such a silvery shimmer! Here are all the colours it comes in. Two sheets each in a large 12″x12″ size. Great for envelope, card fronts, stamping on (like I’ve done) and so many more ideas.

A few other design tips on this card!

If you’d like to make a simple design like this, here’s a few things to keep in mind:

• keep your background quite plain so the colour just jumps off the paper (mine is Sahara Sand)
• consider what embossing powder is going to show up the colour the best
• die cut or fussy cut your stamped images with a little bit of a border rather than right up to the embossing powder
• use minimal embellishments (mine is Linen Thread and Polished dots in the background and two Opal Rounds on the flower centres)
